Therapeutic Uses
Source – The extract is derived from the dried fruit of the Garcinia Cambogia tree which is found in the forests of South India and South East Asia. The main active ingredient is (-) Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA).

Therapeutic Action – Prevents the metabolism of carbohydrates to fats i.e it inhibits lipogenesis.
Burns excess fats.
Suppresses appetite to avoid over eating.
Increases the production of Glycogen in the liver.
Some researchers believe that it increases the production of body heat (thus it burns calories).

Safety – HCA is a naturally occurring compound, hence it is safe to use. In addition to this it does not act upon the Central Nervous System. This means that it is not a stimulant and does not interfere with normal sleep cycles

Dose - Trial human studies have shown that an intake of 750mg to 1500mg per day is considered optimum dosage. When used as a dietary supplement (In tablet or capsule form) three doses of 500mg taken half an hour before meals is recommended.

Extra high bulk density Garcinia Cambogia
The normal bulk density of Garcinia Cambogia extract powder (calcium salt) is between 0.35 gm/ml to 0.50 gm/ml untapped. In order to ensure the optimum dosage of Hydroxicytric acid (Normally 1500mg per day) tablets or capsules have to be large in size if normal bulk density powder is used. Additionally the number of tablets or capsules to be consumed per day also goes up.

Research
Garcinia cambogia is a small fruit, found in India and Southeast Asia. It is used extensively as a condimental in Indian cuisine.

Garcinia cambogia's active ingredient is Hydroxycitric acid (HCA), which is extracted from the rind of the fruit.

Clinical studies indicate that HCA is a powerful anti-obesity and weight loss agent. HCA restricts the conversion of carbohydrates to fat by blocking the enzymes responsible for fat synthesis. HCA helps suppress food intake by sending signals of "fullness" to the brain.

Research indicates that HCA supplementation, even when combined with a normal diet, may result in more than 50% greater weight loss, compared to placebo groups. In one particular study subjects taking HCA for 8 weeks decreased body weight and BMI by 5.4%. In addition, they also experienced improved blood lipid profiles.

More recently, it has been proved that Garcinia cambogia has a hepato protective ability against external toxins, such as alcohol.
A recent study showed that Garcinia prevented liver cells from becoming fibrotic and stopped cell damage caused by high blood lipid levels.
